- Explorers League: Anyone who deals with the Explorers' League might know of Bran; he's one of the few Prospectors who is a priest/healer, and stands out for that reason. He is known to be a bit of a dissenting voice, especially when the League gets reckless with life and limb in the pursuit of knowledge.
- Stillwall Brewery: Bran's family doesn't come close to the Barleybrews or the Thunderbrews, with sales of their various offerings limited mostly to Ironforge. Stillwall Barleywine, though, is a bit of a breakout hit - several taverns who pride themselves on unusual "best kept secret" offerings serve it with pride.
Appearance
Bran's wild red hair and beard frames a boyish, pensive face just starting to show the first lines of age. His eyes are as warm and tranquil as tropical shallows, and approximately the same color. He's bit on the slight side for a dwarf, but still stocky and solid to a human's eyes.
His fingers are often ink-stained, as are, occasionally, his face and/or hair. His robes are almost always smudged with something or other. His face is usually beaming with serene good cheer. He's about a century and a half old, which for a human would translate somewhere in the late twenties/early thirties range.
Personality
Inquisitive • Big-Picture • Restless • Fun-Loving
Bran is an enthusiastic scholar of life's greatest mysteries, which made him a natural fit for the Explorers' League and their obsession with the world-shaping Titans. His interests are not so narrow as to be limited to his own ancestry, however; he can expound at great length on dragons, gods, loa, and the various major eras of multiple species' history. The one commonality in all his interests is that they are macro-scaled in the extreme.
He is not well suited, however, for the traditional academic life, as he's not one for sitting at a desk. He has mastered the art of reading while walking or riding, and he has an entire system for carrying everything he needs to eat, sleep, shelter, and study in two saddlebags. He also has the uncanny ability to create a party out of very few supplies on very short notice.
What most people remember about Bran, however, is his upbeat demeanor. Although he can at times offend others due to sheer obliviousness to important personal details or inability to "read the room," he's not uncaring, nor is he oblivious to sorrow and injustice. Nothing gets him down for long, however, and he has a tendency to try to turn gloominess or boredom on its ear at the slightest opportunity. Laughter, adventure, and new discoveries are what keep his engine running.
In other people, Bran is drawn to intelligence and enthusiasm above all. He loves to be surprised, challenged and entertained. But he is somewhat perversely appreciative of people who drag him down to earth and force him to pay attention to mundane boring details he's constitutionally incapable of attending to in a vacuum. There is literally no way one could drive him away by nagging.
In a Nutshell
Quirks:
- Often greets people with "Lo there!"
- Tends to call people by titles or nicknames rather than their given names, because it's easier for him to remember and nicknames are fun.
- If a person's reaction to him doing a thing decreases the ambient fun level, he usually remembers not to do it around that person in future.
- Often says "Dinna fash yerself" or just "Dinna fash," which means "Don't trouble yourself/don't worry."
- Has a particular fondness for caraway burnwine.
- Sketches things often and quickly. Remarkably accurate in outline and mood, lacking detail.
This Character Can Be Romanced
Bran is a lighthearted, intellectual romance.
Bran is not one to initiate things, but he's open to casual flings with women of all sorts, so long as everyone's having fun and no one's waiting up for him. Men are not really his flavor, but he'll try anything five or six times as long as no one's getting hurt.
Bran's not a very physical person. He's somewhere on the demisexual spectrum; other than a preference for a typical "female shape", his physical attractions pretty much line up with what draws him to friends or people in general. To him, sex is just another way of having fun with someone he likes.
His restless nature means that anyone who tried to restrain him (literally or metaphorically!) would likely find him slipping through their fingers almost immediately. The key to "locking him down," paradoxically, would be to either let him wander or else to wander right alongside him for long enough to create a real bond, and then at some point to clearly and assertively state a desire for a monogamous commitment. A woman who managed to partner with Bran for life might sometimes get frustrated at his lack of traditional "romance" sensibilities, but she would never be short of fun, epiphany, or excitement. Day to day, she would find him a good listener, free with his affection, and a surprisingly easy person to settle disagreements with.
Whatever it is you might want from Bran - be it a single roll in the hay or a lifelong monogamous partnership - you will definitely have to knock him over the head with your intentions. Maybe two or three times.
History
Born to a family of brewers (the surname comes from the family hair color resembling the copper lining of their favorite still), Brannagen was voraciously curious both academically and socially from a very early age. This opened him up to a great deal of (mostly good-natured) bullying from his peers, including his older brother Magnamor and older sister Muradel (if you think you're detecting a pattern in these names, you're not wrong).
Youing Bran responded to the bullying mostly via avoidance, and as soon as he was able, he wandered away from his family and Ironforge in general to surround himself with things he enjoyed. He spent quite a bit of time in Lordaeron during the era in which Arthas was growing up, traveling with a company of drake hunters and making a few coppers writing travel guides.
He was converted to worship of the Holy Light during the Third War when he saw its power in action, and ever since he discovered how to channel it, he's been exploring the world(s) even more widely and wielding his new holy powers with pragmatic glee.
Upon joining the Explorers' League, his academic curiosity, almost uncanny pattern recognition, and natural wanderlust caused him to advance quickly in the organization, despite being one of the few priests among their ranks. Over time though, the leaders of the League began to butt heads with him more and more often over disagreements on safety procedures. After a particularly heated meeting, Bran was on a sort of probationary leave that caused him to join a Cobalt squad to adventure in different company. Then his squad got wrapped up in the rediscovery of Brann Bronzebeard and the secrets of Ulduar, which ironically has likely cemented his place in the League for all time.
After he helped defeat the Lich King, he returned home for a time to help his family through the death of his mother and the turmoil around the return of Moira Thaurissan.
In Year 29 he joined back up with Cobalt Company's Blue Squad to assist in reaching out to the Wildhammer clan families in the Twilight Highlands and push back against the Twilight Hammer's plans in the area.

A Sentinel I met just before my first foray with Blue Squad. Seems fun an' curious, less set in her ways than many kaldorei. |
|

Silverbloom
Another Sentinel I met on my first Blue Squad day; she was gonna be on White Squad. Affectionate sort, seems a bit young. |
|
|
Shy Guy
Met on my first day with Blue Squad. Silverbloom hugged him near t'death. Married t'Twin Lad. |

Argent Lad
Gave Blue Squad our first assignment. Fought like a bleedin' demon in Naxxramas. But holier. |
|

Fey Lass
Found her in Cobalt HQ not long after I joined Blue Squad. Full o' questions. Quite a strange lass, possibly an Old God cultist. Will keep an eye on 'er. |

| (2025-12-16) Fashing (Heroically?) (Orastan in Pandaland Part 3) |
Oranna and Thalstan continue to explore both their new relationship and the new (to them) continent of Pandaria, as a rumor of some minor concern out in a cardinal direction (don't worry, Thalstan can navigate) leads them into a bit more trouble than they originally anticipated, and to a familiar face who wasn't expecting the trouble either, or the help. If Thalstan had a silver for every time he showed up to help in the nick of time and the person wondered if she was hallucinating the cover of a book coming to life to magically rescue her, he'd have two silvers. Which isn't a lot, but maybe it's weird that it's happened twice? 14k~ words. Action Romance RP. |

Thalstan listens, undaunted, and stands ready to take things as slow and steady as his lady needs. There's only one bed. (But two rooms.) Romance RP. Please see CWs for sensitive subject matter. 22k~ words. |

Thalstan shares more about some of his doubts, and his hopes, and Oranna explains more about how for her there are no absolutes, including even the big things like truths and lies. They get to Dwarven Second Base (beard touching). 14k~ words. Romance RP. |
