Appearance
Aszera's Softer Side
Aszera is a pale blood elf with straight black hair that she keeps cut above her shoulders. She has the strength and flexibility of a dancer, and fights with the same grace. Outside of combat situations, she used to take great delight in elaborate and revealing fashions, and in the artistic use of cosmetics. These days, she doesn't often leave Northrend, and she's more likely to be spotted in leather armor, a red-lined black cloak, and an Argent Crusade tabard clearly visible.
Personality
Intense - Uninhibited - Caring - Pliant
Aszera approaches life with an open enthusiasm, rarely holding anything of herself back. She requires very little persuasion to run interesting risks or to be one of the first to attempt something. This is not to say she does not value herself or have a sense of self-preservation, just that these considerations are often easily sidelined by ‘oh, I want to try that‘. There are few lines she wouldn’t cross for herself, but she tries her best to make sure her decisions do not actually hurt people that she cares about. Her current circumstances have forced a tiny bit more caution into her life, but she doesn't take to it easily.
This character can be romanced.
Aze is pansexual and could potentially be interested in any race, though her romantic history to date has been almost entirely sin'dorei/quel'dorei. Aze can be romanced casually and seriously, and the two would be very different.
Casually, she generally has very little inhibitions about, well, much of anything, and that includes sex. If you convince her that you're attractive or interesting, she'll probably be interested in brief or occasional romance. In this situation, she's likely to be affectionate, sincere, and focused on her partner's enjoyment and wellbeing. She's just as likely to initiate as to accept an initiation from someone else.
There are some traits, however, that would forestall casual romance. She will not casually sleep with anyone that she thinks is likely to get too emotionally involved, because she would see that as causing potential harm. She will also not sleep with anyone who shows signs of seeing the activity as a competition or a conquest.
As for serious romance, she is not actively looking for love, so she is unlikely to be the one to pursue. She might flirt, but the other person would have to be the one to explicitly push things over into serious romance territory. A relationship with her is likely to be volatile and may involve some conflict. Despite her intensity of emotion, she would not be a possessive or jealous partner. She would prefer for both parties to be allowed to sleep around casually (together or separately).
In general, Aze will be attracted to people who are intelligent, confident, good at banter, kind, and able to handle themselves in dangerous situations. She will not be attracted to people who are emotionally detached, timid, cruel or possessive.
History
In Aszera's early years, having no talent or patience for the study of the arcane, she instead focused on the more physical study of dance. Her talent in this arena allowed her some access to higher society, and she buried herself in the most decadent parts high-elf culture. She was a regular on the party scene, and became generally known as someone who was usually down to try anything new. Needless to say, she did not bring pride to the Sunstrike family name, and her parents (and older sister Syarra) tended to find her behavior exasperating and unpredictable.
Despite their differences, she and her older sister Syarra were close and cared for each other deeply. Eventually, Syarra (a warrior, at the time) influenced her to become interested in studying combat arts. Aszera threw herself into this new area of interest, practicing long hours and eventually surpassing her sister’s ability. As a result, though they lost their parents during the Third War, Syarra and Aszera made it through the chaos together and took the name sin’dorei with the other survivors.
Aszera's Soldier Side
When Kael’Thas Sunstrider called on some of the healthiest fighters and magisters to join him in aiding the resistance in Lordaeron, Aszera was chosen to join. Syarra was not. Aszera said farewell to her sister, for what she thought would be a short time, and followed the uncrowned prince. The assistance to the Alliance in Lordaeron soon went awry and Aszera followed Sunstrider to Outland to join his new allies, Lady Vashj and Illidan Stormrage. When Sunstrider sent a contingent of blood elves to serve Stormrage directly, Aszera was among them. In this new situation, she distinguished herself sufficiently to be sent for elite training…
It was here that things ultimately went off the rails. Aszera sought to impress her leaders until the end, when she woke with ruined eyes and a body imbued with fel energies, and she realized that probably she should’ve said no somewhere along the way. It was very common for the initiation to go wrong, so she laid a path that strongly implied her death and deserted. She fled to Shattrath to try to put the pieces back together, and that's where she met Sil Silentstep, who cannot resist a pretty girl in trouble. Sil helped her get back on her feet, and also introduced her to a number of other Cobalt Company members, almost all of whom she instantly decided were her friends. At the suggestion of one of these friends, she made contact with Altruis the Sufferer and began to learn more about how to manage her condition.
This situation endured until she found out that her sister Syarra was not dead, but rather raised as a death knight who had been freed at the Battle of Light's Hope Chapel. There followed a long period of emotional conflict, where Syarra persisted in trying to keep her living, demon-infested sister as a part of her life.
Eventually, the Scourge invaded and the war in Northrend kicked off, and Syarra left to kill the Lich King. Aze, now a free agent with reason to suspect many people might want to kill her for what she is, followed months later in an ill-advised stowaway scheme and hovered at the edges of civilization offering what help she could.
This state of affairs changed again when she met up with the paladin Kit du Lac, who shared her flask and her kindness with Aze and encouraged her to join the Argent Crusade. With some misgivings, the Crusade accepted her. Aze became a member of a team that specialized in killing frost wyrms, and took part in many offensives in Northrend, including the final push into Icecrown Citadel and defeat of the Lich King.
Afterward, her sister and brother-in-law went back south to the Plaguelands, and Aze lingered at the Heartwood Trading Post in Grizzly Hills with the Argent Crusade. There she helped those recovering and assisted in monitoring the now-more-docile Scourge.
Aze was still in the Grizzly Hills when the Cataclysm hit, and she remained there until Coriene Bloodsong offered her a portal to Shattrath. This she took, and rebuilt a life for herself in the city, keeping in touch with the Argent Crusade, working for the Sha'tar, and volunteering in the refugee orphanage. During the summer after the Cataclysm, she, Colson, Mordecai and Coriene tracked down a pit lord who came through a reopened portal and put an end to him.
This Outland life was briefly interrupted by a booty call to the Alliance fleet over Vashj'ir, which developed into a several-weeks vacation for killing naga on behalf of the Alliance. A few months later, Aze was summoned to Fallon House, where she made a number of new friends and swore her allegiance to the Alliance.
Relationships
Roper
My brother-in-law. I trust him. |
Syarra Sunstrike
My sister, though she's a little more dead than I'd prefer. Maybe it doesn't need to matter. |
Ally
Smart and fun, I very much like her. Good dancer and speaks a lot of languages. I think of her sort of like family, but also sort of not because she seems really hot. |
Cressidha
She's a good dancer, would spin her again. |
Colson
Mordecai's husband, and a friend. I have hidden nothing from him, and he hasn't turned away from the friendship. |
Lady Aspenwood
Colson and Cressidha's mom, and my sponsor to joining the Alliance. I don't know her well yet, but I think that makes her a friend already. |
Confessor Greennote
Willing to accept me into the Argent Crusade, so a friend? A brother 'in the Light' either way. Seems more chill about the whole demon thing than some others. |
Elle
I danced with him, and we asked questions of one another. And then we hugged, which was kind of a surprise, but a nice one. I'm going to go visit him and his friends. |
Gethennis
He's so pretty. Soooo pretty. Anyway, a friend. |
Isla
An absolute delight of a young girl. I love her flair for the dramatic and her endless light. She is going to take society by storm when she comes of age. |
Kitharian
Paladin friend with whom I have shared a flask, a tent, pain, kindness, and an allegiance. I like her. |
Lena
Siamus's warlock, and ever since my weeks in the ship above Vashj'ir, a friend. We both have connections to the fel, and we get along well. I would totally hook up with her, but she has a thing for Mr. Shine. |
Mordecai
Friend! We have a lot of things in common, like a fondness for dancing. Also, a lot of things not at all in common. Keeps things interesting! I have hidden nothing from him, and he hasn't turned away from the friendship. |
Rae
A friend, initially because I killed someone for her. Most people don't start friendships with me in that way, but I'm not opposed to it. I appreciate her creativity and her honesty. She's also literal-minded and easily upset, and I wish she didn't hate my family. I don't hate hers, not even the corpse fiance. Well, maybe there's time. |
Siamus Fallon
First, and so far only, human I've ever hooked up with. A friend and a lover, also an Admiral and member of the House of Nobles and of high political importance to my family. I have given him significantly more of myself than I ordinarily would a lover — stuff like allegiance and trust and knowledge of the Illidari. |
Sil
Human I randomly met in Shattrath while blackout drunk a few years ago. He was kinder to me than he had any right to be, and I don't know if he realizes how dramatically he shifted the course of my life. I have tried to return the favor when he's been having a hard time. He is a valued friend. |
Vond
He was wary of my whole situation, but has also been a loyal friend. We're on a squad together in the Argent Crusade |
William
Colson and Cressidha's dad, though he said I can call him William. He likes making wine, and I like drinking wine, so I think we'll get along great! |
Miss Curran
Possibly the Fallon assassin? She has a certain kind of Kul Tiras magic. She did a background check on me before I arrived, and had some negative impressions. We spoke for a while, and I think we parted on better terms than we met. |
Her Grace
Siamus's wife. She has treated me with perfect, if utterly cold, propriety, ensuring I am comfortable as a guest in her house and facilitating my entrance into the Alliance. She has my respect. |
Brendol
Rae's brother, who I met at the little dance gathering at Fallon House. Somehow, he seems to have seen Yara inside the death knight, like I do. He's also an uneasy dancer, but really practice is how you get out of that. I hope he takes me up on learning sin'dorei dances someday. |
Lady Bri
A sheltered, lonely young woman who thinks her nobility is more important than it is. I don't really care about her cause, but I still feel like I want to help her. |
Lady Ery
Siamus's firstborn, and I believe she is a tidesage. Cute little kid. |
Mr. Boutille
Something of a brother to Isla, and a painter. He's always been friendly and polite, but he seems a little cautious of me. |
Ranneowyn
My former dance teacher! She might not believe how amazing I am at dancing, and sadly I can't prove it now, because I don't want to get up on a stage. |
Lord Graves
The first worgen I've met! He was either scared or shy or standoffish, but seemed very quiet and left quite soon. It also could've just been Lena and I stinking up the room with fel and perfume. I've heard they have a sensitive sense of smell. |
Sandy
Nervous warlock. Did I make him nervous? |
Mourn
Bossy death knight who's marrying a living friend of mine. I've danced with him and provoked his hunger a little, so I think we're at least friendly acquaintances. |
Mr. Shine
The one Lena's interested in. I've only spoken to him in group situations, but I trust her judgment. He must be a good guy. |
Lady Sintha
Siamus's sister. She danced quite a lot with Ally, and we had a rather interesting conversation. I would not underestimate her. |
Tabiana
Her sister's also a death knight, but a less reasonable one. She's solved the problem by now, and is attached to Fallon House. |
Almeiria
Fought Sapphiron together. |
Alysson
Fought Sapphiron together. |
Anareline
Fought Sapphiron together. |
Dane
I went on a mission with him in Zul'drak, and later we talked for a while and sparred at the Argent Tournament grounds. I think he still sees me as a monster, but there's respect there, too, on both sides. He encouraged me to join the Alliance. |
Bertrand
Fought Sapphiron together. He died briefly. |
Briellen
A member of my Argent Crusade squad. |
Anna Byrne
Leader of my Argent Crusade squad. |
Caspis
Fought Sapphiron together. |
Jocoza
Fought Sapphiron together, and I bit her during the Blood Queen fight in ICC. |
Lireen
I went on a mission with her in Zul'drak, but we didn't really interact. |
Lode
I went on a mission with her in Zul'drak, but we didn't really interact. |
Lydia
Fought Sapphiron together. |
Nunuzac
Fought Sapphiron together. |
Brother Black
Surprisingly reasonable paladin, who Kit has asked me to get to know better. He accepted me in the Argent Crusade. |
Taeavon
Fought Sapphiron together. |
Therald
An Argent Crusade guard I chatted with who has a rough history with the fel. He seems like a good guy. |
Velrin
I worked with her on a variety of missions - in Zul'drak, against Sapphiron in Naxxramas, and helping out Ralaea Westwind. |
Celaven
I do not trust this one. He's healed me before, though, so I guess he's not terrible. |
Coriene
Her little sister was my best friend, and Cori did not think well of her. I do not trust her. Not at all. |
Sabitha
She doesn't like me. |
