Halford Wyrmbane is the High Commander of the 7th Legion.
During the Second War, Wyrmbane was a knight in service of Lordaeron. Even then, when his was just one of many legions, Wyrmbane's exemplary leadership had elevated the 7th to a near-legendary status.
By the battle of Mt. Hyjal, Wyrmbane had become a paladin (in honor of lost Turalyon) and his legion had been converted into an elite special operations regiment with strict entry requirements. Since then, he has led the 7th into the forefront of every major conflict on Azeroth - sometimes multiple engagements at once.

War. War never changes. And neither does Halford Wyrmbane.
The fact that very few people have seen Halford Wyrmbane without his helmet in the last twenty years says a great deal about his personality. He has next to no interest in personal relationships, and none whatsoever in romance. He is obsessed with strategy, with victory, and with righteousness. He is a hard man to spend time with, but when it comes time to lead an offensive or fire up the troops, there is no one better.
His faith in the Light came to him late in life, but now he wields purity and righteousness as just another sword, another strategy. He has little patience for spycraft and subterfuge, and even less tolerance for the use of fel magic, but he reluctantly incorporates both into the 7th's operations when no other tool will get the job done.
Relationships
| Commander Windstryke His right hand woman. Some people say she pines for him unrequitedly, or vice versa. The truth is, most people simply don't understand how two people could be so perfectly, passionately, almost preternaturally in sync without even a whisper of romance involved. |
| Count Elohad Ference A fellow knight during the Second War who came to Wyrmbane for advice when he, too, wished to join the paladin order late in life. These days they have a distant but mutually respectful working relationship, and Ference often speaks in favor of the 7th Legion's interests in the House of Nobles. |
| Captain Zath Tyrrell One of the first Alliance warlocks, and the first to be given command of an expeditionary unit in the 7th. Tyrrell and Wyrmbane knew each other from Tyrrell's childhood and once had a closer working relationship, but Wyrmbane has distanced himself since Tyrrell's decision to take up fel magic. |
