Appearance
- Thuraniel is a very tall and stunningly beautiful high elf woman. She is always poised, composed, and put together. Her stormy grey-blue hair is smooth and neat and her clothes are the finest that money can buy, classy, but never gaudy. She exerts a sort of pressure which, paired with her imposing stature and striking, icy blue eyes, makes her quite intimidating.
Personality
- Regal: Thuraniel always conducts herself with pride and elegance. There is never a thing out of place on her body, right down to every last strand of hair on her head. She conducts herself in a proper and formal manner at all times. Not even her closest acquaintances have ever seen her slip up or lose her cool before.
- Genius: Ever since childhood Thuraniel has been in a league of her own in terms of intellect. When she first came to study at the Violet Citadel as a student she frequently gave her teachers lectures rather than the other way around, much to their chagrin. She has long since become the head researcher in the evocation department of the Violet Citadel, and the sheer power of her spells is something that even her peers behold with awe.
- Perfectionist: Thuraniel demands excellence from both herself and those around her. She likes having everything just so and gets quite annoyed when others do not fit her lofty standards. She does not snap at others for failing to meet her expectations, but her looks of disappointment have crushed the spirits of many a mage regardless. This trait has also made her social circle quite small as there are precious few in her life whom she has deemed worthy of her time.
History
- Thuraniel was born to the Wintersun family, a wealthy mason family in Tranquillien. She had an incredible aptitude for the arcane arts, so her parents hired a very expensive tutor to teach her magecraft, something she wished to pursue in hopes of joining the Magisterium in Silvermoon. However, while she may have been wealthy, she was still a commoner and achieving such a dream without connections was little more than a pipe dream.
- Therefore, her father sent her down to the Violet Citadel in Silvermoon to make a name for herself there. And make a name for herself she did, quickly rising to the rank of archmage in the Kirin Tor and attracting the eye of the Flarecrests, a noble house within Silvermoon. She was engaged and married to a young Flarecrest and finally achieved her dream of becoming a magistrix, but seemingly threw it all away to return to Dalaran and married spellsword adventurer and infamous womanizer, Doriyen Noonshade. The couple seemed perfectly happy and content, and she hasn’t seemed to have looked back at her old life in Quel’Thalas since even after
- More recently, Thuraniel lost her husband Doriyen after he died fighting the Scourge in Quel’Thalas during the Third War. She didn’t openly show much emotion at the news, but her colleagues noted that she has been even more reserved than usual since his passing. Doriyen’s noble titles and name were posthumously reinstated for his service during the Third War and she has the right to inherit the Phoenixheart house, but she declined, remaining loyal to Dalaran and to the Alliance. She is an outspoken critic of the Sin'dorei’s reliance on fel magic, but an even more outspoken critic of the lack of effort put forth by the Alliance in Supporting Silvermoon following the Third War. She has gone as far as to call the Sin'doeri’s admission into the Horde “The single greatest diplomatic blunder in the history of the Alliance.” She carries on with her research uninterrupted as war rages in Northrend, teaching more fire mages who can go forth to face the Scourge.
Relationships
| Taeavon Her only child. She can be overbearing with him, but it is out of love. She wants to make sure that he lives up to his full potential as well as to not fall prey to his father's old vices. She keeps an arguably inappropriately intrusive eye on his personal life. |
| Ranneowyn An illegitimate child from Doriyen's cavalier days before he settled down with Thuraniel. She has not met her many times, though the limited experience she does have has lead her to conclude that she is certainly her father's daughter. Not that Thuraniel imagines she would be pleased to hear as much… |
