Jessalynne grew up in Westfall, in the small town of Moonbrook. Her grandfather had been a stonemason of Stormwind, but fell in love with a Moonbrook girl and settled there with her, even building them a house in town. There wasn't a great deal of work for a stonemason in Westfall itself, so he and his son ended up working the mines.
Jess was still a child when the Stonemasons Guild rioted, but due to her family's connections she gained an understanding of what had happened. The Trillers even took in a few fugitive masons and kept them in hiding while the guild reorganized after the riot.
The following years had a tremendous impact on Jessalynne's life. She had always been close to her grandfather, and his devotion to these masons was astonishing…even frightening at times. She was swept up in his fanatical determination to help them.
Over the years, as the stonemasons metamorphosed into the Defias Brotherhood, Jessalynne changed along with them. When her grandfather passed away, she proudly carried his torch. She had heard the words of Edwin VanCleef, and she was a believer. The nobles of Stormwind were corrupt and evil, and that corruption should be cut out by any means necessary.
