Hugo doesn't remember his father much, though he's heard plenty about the brave, mighty, respected Captain Luc Valonforth of the 1st Legion. The virtues attributed to his father, Hugo has always seen in his big sister, Sophiette.

Of course, their age difference meant Sophie would go off to train as a paladin while he remained home. But when it comes to playing with his peers, he almost always insists on "playing knights" and leading his friends on imaginative quests.

At 10 years old, Hugo has finally won his sister over and she has agreed to train him to be her squire.

In many ways, Sophie has filled the void in his life left by his father, and he's been sure since the time he could walk and talk that he would be at her side in what would surely be grand adventures.

Dara has been a presence in Hugo's life for as long as he can remember, due to his sister's betrothal (then break-off, then re-engagement) to her. Dara has always been very sweet to Hugo, and he couldn't be more excited to have her as a new sister.

This pony was a gift from Sophiette to commemorate taking Hugo on as her squire (and to help him keep up). She suggested naming him "Loyal" or "Steadfast". Hugo preferred "Cloppy".
