Dutiful ⬥ Idealistic ⬥ Magnanimous ⬥ Brash
The son and first-born of Oran and Dathne Jansen, Dagrick is a Westfall boy, born and bred. Though he had boyhood dreams of one day being a great knight, he was always expected to take over running the Jansen homestead, one of the many farms providing wheat, grain, and other staples in Stormwind's breadbasket.
He took on that role far sooner than anyone expected, as both of his parents died when he was young; first his mother from a terrible accident, and later his father from injuries sustained from a Defias attack.
His relationship with his younger sister, Annibeth, had always been fraught with typical sibling rivalry. But it worsened as they got older. They tried to work together to run the homestead after their father's passing, Dag keeping the books and doing most of the day-to-day work while Anni applied her talents to keeping the harvesters and other farm equipment running smoothly.
They scraped by, but it wouldn't last. The day Anni came to Dagrick and invited him to a meeting to listen to Edwin VanCleef speak, he lost his temper. She was associating with the very people that killed their father. They argued, and each said things they would regret. Dagrick even threatened that if Anni joined the Defias, he would join the People's Militia to stop her. It wasn't enough, though; she left in anger.
Dagrick couldn't keep the farm going without Anni. Eventually the harvesters would break down, and he didn't have the technical skill to repair them, nor the money to pay someone else to fix them. Left with little choice, he abandoned the homestead and did exactly what he'd told Annibeth he would do: he joined the militia.
After the Scourge invasion of 27, the Alliance Army reorganized in preparation to sail north to make war. The People's Militia began a new recruitment push and it's experienced troops became the Westfall Brigade. Dagrick was among those assigned to the Brigade and sent to Northrend.
Though his anger at his sister ran deep, she was the only family he had left and he still loved her. Before leaving for Northrend, he wrote her a letter telling her where he'd gone. He placed it in the hollow of an old tree stump on the homestead where they used to hide things as children…hoping one day she might find it.
Relationships
Annibeth Anni is Dagrick's younger sister. Though they've always had some degree of sibling rivalry, it got worse after their mother died…and turned into outright hostility after she joined the Defias Brotherhood.
Ben Hazan Dagrick and Ben attended school in Moonbrook together. It was tense at first, as Dag took it upon himself to play hero against the "Hazan Giant"…who promptly put Dag in the dirt. After that, they became friends of a sort. They still scrapped, but always over trivial things and it was quickly forgotten. The two reconnected when Dagrick joined the People's Militia, but they've fallen out of contact in recent years.
Private Furlbrow Another son of Westfall in the Brigade. Dag and Furlbrow have something of a friendly rivalry going all the way back to their school days that occasionally gets pretty physical, but somehow never seems to hurt their friendship regardless of who comes out on top.
